Donella is a Director in Nexia Edwards Marshall’s Accounting and Business Consulting Services division.

Donella is an engaging and hard-working individual, who prides herself on her integrity and resourcefulness. She is a team player with a friendly disposition and works hard to understand her clients at all levels by building strong relationships with them. She is knowledgeable, dedicated, and passionate about her clients’ goals and business strategies that help her effectively service their financial requirements.

Formal qualifications

Donella has a Bachelor of Science in Accounting from the University of St. La Salle in the Philippines and is a licensed PICPA.  Donella has worked in the Philippines, Malaysia, and the British Virgin Islands, prior to moving to Darwin NT.

Financial advisory and management accounting

Donella’s expertise include financial advisory and management reporting, internal control assessment and continuous process improvement. She is able to work with her clients in different industries to be able to create and deliver management reports that help the executive team review financial data and develop strategies. Donella is also well-experienced in dealing with grant administration and advisory, grant accounting and reporting, budgeting, forecasting, process flow improvements, and liaison with different external stakeholders or funding bodies, for her clients in the non-for-profit and First Nations sector.

Financial Team Management and Mentoring

Donella has also been engaged by her clients to help train and mentor their finance team members, particularly with industry best accounting practices. Her team is able to help assist and cover when a client’s finance team is short on staff or is being filled in by new staff. Continuity of day to day finance processes, while ensuring timely Executive Management reporting and external compliance reporting, are the benefits of this service offered.

Accounting standards and industry experience

Donella has been a practicing PICPA for over a decade and has been exposed to a wide range of accounting standards, such as IFRS, AASB, and US GAAP. She has combined experience in external audit, an oil and gas company, trust and hedge fund accounting, cryptocurrency, internal audit and controls, non-for-profit organisations, and First Nations organisations. Throughout her career, she has also been exposed to working around the Sarbanes -Oxley Act, AML Regulations, Trust and Fund re-domiciliation process, and KYC (Know-Your-Client) procedures.

Donella is experienced in using and exposed to several accounting and management software, including Caseware, Lawson, Oracle, SAP, Paxus, Microsoft Dynamics D365, Quickbooks, Xero, and MYOB.
